Manager praises 'underrated' TabbRoyals manager Brian McDermott heaped praise on midfielder Jay Tabb - not just for his resolute Premier League performances, but for his overall reputable nature he brings to the club.
Tabb has often had to bide his time for a place in the Royals starting XI, but has always got on with the job and fully understands that football is a team game.
"Oh, what can I say about Jay Tabb," McDermott exhaled in total admiration. "I would say that he's underrated in the game - but not as far as the lads, the staff or I am concerned. He's so well regarded at the club.
"I'm sure our fans appreciate him - he really is a terrific player and he's got everything that typifies what's good about Reading Football Club.
"I would like to think that the man in the street can relate to Jay Tabb. The level that we're playing at, you see the amount of money that's being paid to players in this league. But Jay Tabb is just an honest, hard-working lad and you know exactly what you're going to get from him."
The midfielder has started the last three games for the Royals and has certainly impressed his manager - who was particularly delighted with his work-ethic against QPR on Sunday.
"Some of the work that he got through on Sunday was outstanding - he was chasing back in the 90-something minute to make a tackle," added McDermott.
"He made a phenomenal tackle against QPR which was given a foul when we could have broke. It's a decision that could have changed everything and put us 2-0 up, but all of these decisions will come back to us."
