Manager pays trip to Maidenhead

Last week, Royals boss Brian McDermott paid a visit to Maidenhead to watch the Berkshire College of Agriculture (BCA) Academy train.

The football-mad youngsters of the College took part in a warm-up session in Burchett's Green, before gathering round to talk to the Reading manager.

You could literally hear a pin drop as the lads listened to what wise words of encouragement and motivation Brian had to say - before the youngsters enjoyed a more jovial, relaxed chat about football with him.

Launched in 2011, the Reading Football Education Academy provides talented young sports people with the chance to combine playing and coaching with academic studies.

The Education Academy is open to boys and girls aged between 16 – 19 years old . The academic programme allows each student to develop their ability as a football player, whilst acquiring valuable knowledge and skills through educational courses such as the BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport and also acquiring FA Coaching and Physiotherapy certificates.
