'Details are key'

3 November 2012

Boss' QPR view

Royals boss Brian McDermott believes that small details can make a huge difference to his team in the Barclays Premier League.

McDermott's side go to QPR on Sunday, kick off 1:30pm, and he is keen for the minutae to go in his team's favour in west London.

He said, "If you make a mistake in this league you get punished. Individual errors have cost us, we haven't got away with anything. An error against Swansea, we didn't stay with the runner and got punished, Berbatov's goal, set plays, we have to be better at those details then we'll start keeping clean sheets. 18 goals in two games is amazing so let's go for a 1-0 shall we!

"After the game on Tuesday I was in a bit of shock, I went home and watched it back and went to bed about 4am. We're trying to entertain our fans and give them value for money, which is really important and we're doing that. If we do that, that's why they'll stay with every week."

McDermott was also asked about his time at QPR as a youngster, reflecting, "I was there a long time, from about 11 to 15. Geoff Taylor, who now works here, was my coach as well, although it wasn't him who let me go. But I knew I'd be a footballer, I played a trial at Millwall, then picked up by Arsenal from Slough schools."
