Helping young people find employment

Reading FC deliver a number of academic football scholarships for young people after leaving full time education, helping them to increase both their playing and educational skills and signposting them onto further education or employment.



Futsal Scholarship
The Trust delivers two scholarships (Swindon and Reading) - seeing 50 young people from 16 - 18yrs on a two year BTEC Level 3 National Sports Diploma. The participants will also be taking part in the National Youth Futsal League playing fixtures every other week. This academic qualification will be sufficient to gain entry to University

Berkshire College of Agriculture BTEC Football Course
Reading Community Trust have partnered up with the Agricultural college in delivering the Level 2 and 3 BTEC sports course over a two year period - participants will not only be in full time education but also be playing under the Reading banner in the English Football College 11-a-side league

Sportiv8
Sportiv8 is a course which fits football and education for those young people who have limited academic qualifications or those who may have offended and are looking to get back into full time employment or education.

The course is delivered over a 25 week period covering the NVQ in Sport and Recreation, functional skills, Junior Football Organisers course and workshops in other practical skill sets [interviewing, CV writing]. The course is for 16 - 19 year olds for both boys and girls and has worked very successfully in signposting young people onto bettering themselves both academically and through employment

Princes Trust
Reading FC Community Trust have partnered up with the Princes Trust in delivering a 12 week course for up to 12 young people (16 - 25 year olds) - developing them with the main objective being to increase their personal portfolio in the changes of gaining full or part time employment.

The course is set to increase their self-esteem, give them better knowledge of the employment industry and give them skills to increase their chances of gaining employment, using football as the main engagement tool.

Football Education Qualifications
Reading FC Community Trust delivers a number of coach education courses for all members of the public who would like to gain experience in football coaching. This includes:

·Level 1 in football coaching
·Level 2 in football coaching
·Module 1, 2 and 3 - in partnership with the Berks and Bucks FA
