Madejski Stadium remembers

10 November 2012

Royals pay tribute to fallen heroes

Before kick-off this afternoon, Madejski Stadium paid tribute to all those who have fought and fallen in battle as well as those who continue to fight for our country.

Reading and Norwich City players, staff and supporters joined together to immaculately observe a minute's silence before kick-off, a fitting way to mark Remembrance Sunday tomorrow.

Before the match had begun, Chairman Sir John Madejski laid a wreath on behalf of the club while Paul Ellix from STAR and Young Royal Samuel Collieu also took part in remembering our heroes past and present.

The Reading Scottish Pipe Band proudly played outside the megastore and then in front of the East Stand just before kick off, while the Royal British Legion sold poppies in and around the stadium.

Both sets of players were wearing special shirts with a poppy on their chests - and these shirts will be auctioned off in the coming weeks with proceeds donated to the Royal British Legion.

Together, we will remember.
