"It's brilliant to sign"

Alfie delighted to agree new deal

Striker Adam Le Fondre was full of exuberance after signing a new three year deal at the Madejski Stadium.

He follows in the footsteps of Jem Karacan and Sean Morrison after the pair also pledged their loyalty to Reading this Autumn - and Alfie is delighted with the progression he's made with the Royals.

"It's brilliant to sign," he told Reading FC Player. "It shows how far I've come since signing from Rotherham.

"I've always had the self-belief that I'm good enough to play at the highest level and I really appreciate that Reading feel the same. I'm glad have given me a chance I've ultimately proved them and myself right.

"They (Karacan and Morrison) are quality players and they also fully deserve their contracts. Jemba's been brilliant and has been called up for Turkey which is great for him, and Morro's a man-mountain and he'll be a great player."

Looking back on his Reading career so far, 'ALF' picked out favourite moments and revealed that Manchester United away will be his most anticipated fixture.

"Playing in the Premier League and scoring on my debut is one of my highlights but, I think because of the importance of my goals against Southampton which more or less got us promoted, I'll pick that as my highlight so far!

"Playing at Old Trafford will be a great occasion for me and my family - to play United will be a dream so I can't wait for that."
