Arsenal boss pays tribute to ReadingArsenal manager Arsene Wenger took time out to praise Brian McDermott's men in their part of a truly unbelievable League Cup tie.
Wenger, who has won five FA Cups and three Premier League titles with the Gunners, credited Reading for their outstanding first half performance and says they should be encouraged by the display.
"I would like to give credit to Reading," he said. I hope they will not suffer from dissolution – they have a lot of confidence to take out of this game, they were outstanding in the first 30, 35 minutes – and they’ve shown that they are a good team.
"When it’s 4-1 or 4-0 you feel you have you've won the game. But leading 4-2 you feel under threat, you lose confidence and it can go very quickly."
It's fair to say that the Frenchman is qualified to empathise with the Royals, after the Gunners surrendered a 4-0 lead to Newcastle in February 2011.
"I know what it is to be pulled back when you’re 4-0 up," he added. "It happened to me as well.
"They should take credit from that performance and not be too disappointed."
