Clarke hails McDermott

Baggies boss on Brian

West Brom boss Steve Clarke believes that the Royals will always be tough to beat whilst they are under the tutelage of Brian McDermott.

The Baggies manager, who arrived at the Hawthorns this summer, told of his respect for Albion's next Premier League opponents.

“Reading is a good club, well organised from top to bottom," he said.

“There is a really good structure and Brian McDermott has been there for a long time and knows the club inside out.

“He’s done a fantastic job to get them into the Premier League having suffered a real heartbreak in the play-offs the year before last.

“To get them up the way he did in the manner he did was a great achievement so they will be tough opponents."

Meanwhile, McDermott was also respectful of his opposite number when quizzed in his pre-match press conference.

"He's done the hard yards, he's done his 10,000 hours and now to get the opportunity to manage in this league is fantastic for him, and I think he's right and proper. He's proven to be a terrific assistant manager and I'm sure he'll prove to be a good manager."
