Captain keeping cool
Captain Jobi McAnuff insists there are plenty of calm heads amongst the Reading ranks, despite defeat to West Brom on Saturday.
A solitary strike from Romelu Lukaku was enough to grant the Baggies all three points, but despite a close fought encounter – the Royals skipper wasn’t looking for any excuses.
“We’re not getting panicky by any stretch of the imagination,” McAnuff told Reading FC Player.
“It’s only four games in, perhaps because we’re in the Premier League now things get magnified a lot more, but there won’t be any heads dropping in that dressing room.
“Nobody is moping around. We had a tough start last year and managed to crack on after that, so it’s up to us to turn it around. Nobody will give us anything and we don’t expect anyone to. It’s got to come from within.”
The top flight fixture schedule might not be quite as packed as its Championship equivalent, but this week does present an opportunity for Brian McDermott’s men to bounce right back – thanks to a Capital One Cup clash with Queens Park Rangers.
“We’re back on Monday picking each other up and getting ready for the next game. There won’t be any finger pointing, so we can go out there and try and get a good result on Wednesday.
“The fact there are no points to play means we can go out there and really give it a good go. It’s important to try and get a good result.”
