Mikkel and Jordan to extend stays

Portsmouth loanees Mikkel Andersen and Jordan Obita are both set to extend their spells at Fratton Park for a second month.

Goalkeeper Andersen has so far made seven appearances and was the penalty shoot-out hero as Pompey beat Bournemouth on spot kicks in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy. Obita scored with his first touch for Portsmouth, but a red card in his third match has since hampered his progress.

At the weekend, Andersen was on the wrong end of a 2-1 defeat as Walsall saw off Portsmouth at Fratton Park. The 23-year-old made a couple of smart saves but couldn’t stop the Saddlers scoring twice in quick succession. Jordan Obita was serving his final game of the three-match suspension, but will be hoping to feature, alongside Mikkel, in Pompey’s home game against Swindon tonight.

Defender Joseph Mills was part of Burnley’s impressive 5-2 win over Peterborough, and created the first goal with an excellent cross, before producing a fantastic goal-line block to prevent the Posh from going 3-1 up.

Karl Sheppard came on as a substitute for Accrington Stanley with the Lancashire side 1-0 down, and helped his side snatch a point to keep up their solid start to the season. Sheppard will be looking to feature in Stanley’s away match at Chesterfield tonight.

Fellow striker Gozie Ugwu, on loan at Yeovil, was unable to continue his recent goalscoring form, as the Glovers lost 1-0 to MK Dons.

Ugwu will be part of the Yeovil side that face Leyton Orient tonight, while Mills’ Burnley side will travel to Leicester on Wednesday night.
