Noel Spurred On

4 September 2012

Striker ready and waiting

Noel Hunt is already raring to go for the Royals next Premier League clash with Tottenham, after a successful return to his homeland this past weekend.

The Irishman got 90 minutes under his belt in a convincing win over Bray Wanderers – and is now setting his sights on a Super Sunday clash with André Villas-Boas’ men on September 16th – following the international break.

“Life in the Premier League has been great, we’re still getting used to it – but Stoke was a good point and we were unlucky against Chelsea. Next week’s game is a big one at home to Spurs,” he said.

“I feel like I’ve come on in the first two games and done well – I’ve done what I do, got in behind and worked hard. People ask me if I’ve been watching Match of the Day – by the time I get home I’m usually too tired! But if I get a chance to watch it throughout the season it’ll be nice.”

The Waterford born forward clearly relished the chance of staying in the picturesque County Wicklow for a friendly clash with Bray Wanderers – but aside from enjoying the Emerald Isle once again, the 28-year-old gained plenty of match fitness after a bustling display on the left hand side of midfield.

“It was a good little blow out, nice to come back and the score didn’t flatter the boys at all.

“I enjoy mixing it up in terms of positions. The manager told us to go out and enjoy ourselves, give a bit of cover to the full backs and make sure you get back in shape and get forward when you can. It was good just to get 90 minutes.”
