"Anton knows my ambition"Royals manager Nigel Adkins says he is fully backed by owner Anton Zingarevich, ahead of this summer's transfer window.
Adkins reiterated that contractual situations will be assessed towards the end of the season, and says all final decisions regarding contracts and transfers will lie with him.
"The final say will lie with me," said Nigel. "The big thing is that Anton knows my ambition, he’s ambitious as well, we worked very hard to get to the Barclays Premier League and now sit at the wrong end of it.
"There are lessons and experiences are there for all to see this season and whatever division we end up in next season we’ve got to keep building, with a forward momentum, and the style of play that we want to go and play. If you want to be in the Barclays Premier League, you need to keep in good possession of the football."
When asked, the manager said he was unaware of any interest or approach from Galatasaray for Jem Karacan, whilst also stressing of the importance of his recruitment department.
"They’re looking at all the players across Europe and in England, many conversations are going on," he added. I had a meeting with Nick Hammond the other week and Steve Head, the head of recruitment. There’s a recruitment department and there are players they’ve been watching throughout the course of the year. I need to establish who they’ve been looking at, what they’ve been looking at. Conversations have been going on there.
"We’ve got a recruitment department which is important now, gone are the days where the manager goes and watches all the games. Especially across Europe, it’s virtually impossible to go out all the time.
"I’m sure between now and the end of the season there’ll be a lot of players who are being watched, a lot of situations being established – whether a player is out of contract, or is looking for a move, or whether there is a player that we have identified that is available that we want to bring in. With Nick I’m looking forward to a growing relationship to benefit Reading Football Club."
