Buzzing for the Hornets

McAnuff previews Watford match

Jobi McAnuff is determined that the Royals continue their bright start to the 2013/14 Sky Bet Championship season, with Watford the visitors to Madejski Stadium on Saturday.

The Reading captain is relishing the game with his former side, who have begun this campaign in impressive fashion following their Play-Off final defeat to Crystal Palace in May.

"We're expecting a tough game but it's one we're really looking forward to," Jobi told Reading FC Player.

"It's always interesting playing against an old club. A lot has changed since I was there, but they're obviously a very good team and one that will be expected to be up there.

"They've pretty much started where they left off. They had a good season last year - but from our point of view, it's important for us to get off to a good start."

McAnuff added that a strong squad will be vital for the Royals this season - just as important as our fans, who will be there in their numbers once again on Saturday.

"Every player here wants to play games and it's down to the manager which XI he selects and when we're out there we've got to go and and stay everything we can to get picked for the next game. There's massive competition throughout the squad and that will be important for us this season.

"If everyone's enjoying their football and the fans are enjoying what they are seeing then it's good for everybody. It's very important for us to have that positivity (with the supporters) and a real feel good factor around the place."
