Madejski Stadium hosts England qualifier

New England Under-21s Head Coach Gareth Southgate has selected his squad for their European Under-21 Championship qualifier at Madejski Stadium.

The Three Lions face Moldova at the home of the Royals on Thursday 5th September 7.45pm - and tickets can be bought by calling 0844 249 1871 or by visiting

It's Southgate's very first game in charge, and he’s picked a 25-man squad for the double-header - many of who were involved in the 6-0 victory over Scotland earlier this month.

With Everton midfielder Ross Barkley elevated to Roy Hodgson’s senior squad, there is a first Under-21 call-up for midfielder James Ward-Prowse after his impressive early-season performances for Southampton.

And Tottenham Hotspur defender Zeki Fryers is called up for the first time, after previously representing England at U16, U17 and U19 level in recent years. There’s also a return to the squad for Manchester United’s Nick Powell, who hasn’t featured for the Under-21s since November 2012.

The squad will meet up at St. George’s Park next weekend to prepare for the game with Moldova at Madejski Stadium on Thursday 5 September.

Goalkeepers: Jonathan Bond (Watford), Jack Butland (Stoke City), George Long (Sheffield United).

Defenders: Eric Dier (Sporting Lisbon), Ezekiel Fryers (Tottenham Hotspur), Todd Kane (Blackburn Rovers, loan from Chelsea), Michael Keane (Manchester United), Jack Robinson (Blackpool, loan from Liverpool), Luke Shaw (Southampton), John Stones (Everton), Tom Thorpe (Manchester United), Andre Wisdom (Liverpool).

Midfielders: Tom Carroll (Tottenham Hotspur), Nathaniel Chalobah (Chelsea), Will Hughes (Derby County), Nick Powell (Manchester United), Jonjo Shelvey (Swansea City), James Ward-Prowse (Southampton).

Wide: Sammy Ameobi (Newcastle United), Jesse Lingaard (Manchester United), Nathan Redmond (Norwich City), Wilfried Zaha (Manchester United).

Forwards: Saido Berahino (West Bromwich Albion), Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), Connor Wickham (Sunderland).

Tickets for the game are priced at £10 for adults, £7 for 17-21s and £5 for U16s and OAPs.

You can also purchase a family ticket of two adults and two U16s for just £20*.

*There are no booking fees but a £1.50 administration charge will apply to phone and internet bookings (will show as a booking online due to ticketing system). No online bookings for group or family tickets.

Furthermore, it will be £8 per car for public car parking with a concession, while for disabled badge holders it will be £5 per car.
