The league will provide a platform for the young players to continue their development with the Royals and will also enable some first team players an opportunity to gain match fitness, as the system allows three overage outfield players and one overage goalkeeper to be selected in a matchday squad.
The youngsters will go into the game with the Magpies after a solid unbeaten pre-season, after they beat Bristol City 3-2 in their final preparation game ahead of the 2013/14 campaign.
At Hogwood Park, Aaron Tshibola cancelled out ex-West Ham striker Marlon Harewood's opener before goals from Jake Taylor and Pierce Sweeney put the game beyond reach.
