Captain calls for 90 minute display
Jobi McAnuff has called for the Royals to rally themselves off the back off two close run defeats over the Christmas period.
A one goal margin separated Reading from both Wigan Athletic and high flying Leicester over the six days, but the skipper is determined not to let the results dent confidence in the camp.
“There are fine lines at the moment, which we are on the wrong end of. But it’s up to us to turn that around,” said McAnuff.
“We can do that by working hard, sticking together and getting through this little sticky period results wise. We know it’s within us to get the results, from our point of view it’s just making sure we’re consistent enough over a 90 minute period to get that result.”
The games keep coming. Two days recuperation before a clash with Middlesbrough, who helped Leicester to top spot with a win over previous leaders Burnley.
“There’s no time for moping around, we’ll have a look at the last game and put it to bed as quickly as we can, then make sure we’re ready and firing for Middlesbrough. From our point of view it’s a chance to get a win and put a couple of defeats to bed. For large periods at Leicester we controlled the game and at the moment it’s just that things aren’t quite going for us.”
