Royston thrilled to be backRoyston Drenthe was delighted to return to match action on Saturday afternoon as he featured for the first time in almost 12 weeks for the Royals.
The Dutchman came off the bench in the second half of our defeat to Bournemouth, and credited the Cherries for becoming the first side to win at Madejski Stadium in 2013/14.
"I'm really pleased to be back, it was really frustrating to be out for so long," he said. "Getting the chance again to get some minutes is a really positive thing for myself but, as everyone knows, I'm a winner and I'm only thinking about the team.
"The most important thing is my team and Reading. Every game we need to go for three points, so it's really disappointing that we lost the Bournemouth game.
"We have ourselves to blame but Bournemouth did a good job. It's a very good thing if you can win away at Reading at Madejski Stadium, but we should be winning these kind of games.
"We were disappointed but I'm really confident in the group. We have so many good players - international players and winners."
Nigel Adkins was pleased that Royston was able to get half an hour under his belt, but doesn't expect him to play the full 90 minutes at Huddersfield this Saturday - but Drenthe is determined to keep working hard towards that goal.
"Hopefully now I can keep working hard and soon get into the first 11, that's my priority," Royston added.
"The gaffer makes the decisions and he knows what is best for the team. Of course, like every player, I want to start every game - and I will be ready."
