Cohesion event vs CharltonThe Royals will wear special warm-up t-shirts this evening as the Club showcases its Community Cohesion work.
Earlier this year we appointed our first ever Community Cohesion Officer Jay Gilbert, who works in the local area bringing our community closer together through sport, togetherness and education.
Jay's role has been aided by funding from both the Premier League and the PFA, and she works closely with a number of other bodies including Show Racism The Red Card and Kick It Out.
As part of her role the Club's Community Trust now runs Youth Clubs in Reading five nights per week, primary school tournaments that are targeted for BME communities and in-school coaching sessions.
We have also worked with former gang member Paul Hannaford to educate local youngsters, as well as the fire service and Battersea Dog's Home to pass on key information about fireworks and responsible dog ownership.
This is just a small example of the work that takes place and there is an even bigger insight into Jay's strategy - as well as her personal achievements as a European Champion in ITF Taekwondo - in tonight's official matchday programme.
