29 December 2013

Billy in but Royston ruled out

Nigel Adkins has made two changes to the team that narrowly lost out at Leicester on Boxing Day, but Royston Drenthe misses out on the trip due to personal reasons.

Striker Billy Sharp returns to the starting line-up at the Riverside Stadium today, joining Pavel Pogrebnyak in a two-pronged front line.

And Garath McCleary is reinstated to the side after illness, replacing Nick Blackman on one of the wings for this afternoon's clash against Middlesbrough.

Hal Robson-Kanu is named in the squad and takes a place on the substitutes' bench, alongside young midfielder Jake Taylor. Under-21 stars Craig Tanner and Niall Keown have also travelled with the squad.

Reading: McCarthy, Gunter, Cummings, Gorkss, Pearce; Williams, Guthrie, McAnuff (c), McCleary, Sharp, Pogrebnyak.

Middlesbrough: Given, Friend, Gibson, Ayala, Varga, Whitehead, Leadbitter, Ledesma, Adomah, Emnes, Jutkiewicz.
