Fergie: Never comfortable

18 February 2013

United reaction to 2-1 win

Manchester United's Sir Alex Ferguson was pleased to see off a late onslaught from the Royals as his team edged us out 2-1 at Old Trafford.

United's quality had taken them to a 2-0 lead, but Jobi McAnuff's 81st minute goal caused the Barclays Premier League leaders real problems and they had to defend for their lives late on. Ferguson's clenched fist at full time showed he was relieved to have come through a difficult tie.

Ferguson told ESPN, "It was a really good cup tie, when Reading got the goal they went for it and piled the ball in the box looking for a vital touch. We had to defend well, Vidic, Smalling and an excellent save from De Gea.

"We withstood that but overall if you analyse it I'm really satisfied with the quality of our game and we could have scored more.

"It's another late goal for Reading and goals change games. At 2-0 you're never comfortable."
