Jamie's special visit

27 February 2013

Brave youngster meets the team

The Royals opened their training ground doors to a special visitor on Tuesday - 15-year-old Jamie Smith from Whitley Wood.

Jamie was hospitalised just before Christmas after he was knocked down by a car, breaking his knee in two places and needing 50 stitches to his mouth and arm - but received a boost when he met Jobi McAnuff, Mikele Leigertwood and Noel Hunt just days later on the club's visit to the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

And the brave youngster, who is recovering well from his unfortunate accident, enjoyed a day to remember this week as he visited Hogwood Park to meet Brian McDermott and the squad.

Season-ticket holder Jamie was thrilled to meet his heroes, see the Royals train alongside Brian, and get photos and autographs in the canteen area. The lifelong fan was also lucky enough to receive a pair of signed boots from Adam Le Fondre and signed gloves from goalkeeper Alex McCarthy.

Jamie has two more operations to go - and the club would like to wish Jamie all the best with his recovery! Check out the free video below from the day...
