Royals make the news

The Royals’ warm weather training out in the UAE has been a very worthwhile exercise in preparation for the Manchester United cup game – and also generated a lot of press interest in the Middle East.

From the team’s first session on Monday, not a minute of training passed without international cameras being trained on the players’ every move.

On Monday, local sports newspaper Sport360 spoke to Brian McDermott and Adam Le Fondre, while UAE English newspaper The National also spoke to the boss. In addition, international TV company OmniSport also spoke to the Barclays Manager and Player of the Month.

Premier League TV arrived on Tuesday for a two-day shoot, and the feature will go out later this month. They were up close and personal as the players trained, speaking to Leigertwood, ALF, Gibbs, Bibbo, Morrison and of course the boss. Then the UAE Pro League caught up with McAnuff and Federici for their thoughts on football out here.

Wednesday saw Sky News Arabia at the Al-Wasl training ground and they spoke to the award winners, plus newboy Hope Akpan. Federici then spoke to The National back at the hotel – and not forgetting our local media back in Berkshire who also spoke to the key men whilst the team were out here.
