'Take it into West Brom'

8 January 2013

Hunt and Gibbs on following up cup win

The Royals were lifted by an FA Cup win at the weekend, and Noel Hunt wants to take the performance into this Saturday's home game with West Brom.

It was a tough game away to Crawley and Noel said, "We knew it was going to be hard - they are a strong side. It was a hostile ground and the pitch wasn't the best. It could have been an upset but the boys came out and were really professional. We really kicked on after the first minute and it was a good win for us.

"It was a great strike from the lad early on but I don't think we panicked at any point. On another day it could have been four - Alfie was going for his hat-trick but it was a good win for us. We did well and we've got to take it into the game next week.

First team coach Nigel Gibbs added, "We were definitely comfortable but we did have quite a few more opportunities where we could have scored more goals. Credit to them - they stayed in the game and made it difficult. But it was a good response from the boys after going behind so early.

"We knew there was plenty of time to get back in the game, and the boys steadied the ship well. We got the goal at the right time and one just before half time really got us going for the second half. We need competition for places and we've had some good performances out there.

"We can take a lot from the game and it's important to win games. The confidence from the result and performance gives us a good week leading up to West Brom."
