McDermott on squad ahead of Crawley

Manager Brian McDermott says he may utilise his squad for this weekend's FA Cup tie at Crawley - though new signing Daniel Carrico is unlikely to feature.

After three Premier League fixtures in a week, Brian said he will consider the players he has within the group before selecting his squad for Saturday's match.

"Ledge has got a knock, Danny Guthrie hadn't played too many games and now has played three on the spin," the manager said. "So we'll have to look at everybody.

"Pavel's been playing that lone role up front and has worked so hard for the group. There's a possibility we might make changes but it's a game we want to win.

Jason Roberts returned to training on Thursday morning, whilst Nicky Shorey has returned to Hogwood Park as he recovers from a virus.

Meanwhile, new arrival Carrico met up with his Reading teammates today and will take part in his first full training session tomorrow (Friday).

"Karl (Halabi) will look after him today and then he'll train tomorrow fully with the squad for the first time. And then we'll have a look next week."
