Young pair reflect on pre-season testRoyals youngsters Jordan Obita and Lawson D'Ath were pleased to both get 90 minutes under the belts in our final pre-season fixture at Bristol Rovers on Sunday.
Despite being edged by an impressive Rovers side, Obita looked back on our pre-season schedule positively - and hopes to feature more in the 2013/14 season.
"We got 90 minutes under our belts," Jordan said to Reading FC Player. "Obviously we're not happy about the result - but hopefully come Saturday, the first game of the season, we can win.
"We want to win every game so to lose was just not us - not Reading. They (Rovers) played really well, fair play to them - but we shouldn't be losing this types of games.
"We'll forget about the result. It was a good experience and we can learn from it. I like to be involved, I've been trying to impress the manager in every single pre-season game and I think I've done alright. Hopefully I can be involved more this season."
Likewise, D'Ath was delighted to be involved with a number of first team players despite the result at the Memorial Stadium.
"We didn't move the ball quick enough. We were a bit sloppy and the goals we conceded were a bit sloppy," D'Ath admitted.
"It was good to get a run out with the first team lads and get a feel for how we're going to play and how the gaffer wants us to play. It was a good experience."
"They played well, they pass it well and did everything right - we just weren't at it as a team. We'll just put it behind us now and focus on the next game - it's all you can do as a footballer."
