Boss: Fans are invaluable

4 July 2013

Adkins on role of the supporters

Manager Nigel Adkins says the Royals supporters have a huge role to play for the season ahead.

Our supporters are on track to set a new club record for season tickets this year, and Adkins wants 2013/14 to be another exciting campaign for Reading.

"I believe the season ticket sales are going really well, which is great news," the boss told Reading FC Player. "It's really exciting, and we want it to be an exciting season.

"It's the most successful period in the club's history over these last eight or nine years. What we've got to do is give ourselves an opportunity to get back to the Premier League, and then make sure that we can stay there for a lot longer."

Adkins has assured supporters that they will see the players giving everything they can to make the upcoming campaign a prosperous one.

"But first things first, we've got to enjoy this season - and the supporters have a massive role to play in that. For our home and away form, our support will be invaluable," he added.

"The supporters need to know that the players are going to work hard and do everything they can. One, to win games of football - and two, to excite the supporters and get them off their seats."
