Boss on transfer window

25 July 2013

Adkins keeps moves private

Royals boss Nigel Adkins has reaffirmed that the best way for any club to conduct transfer business is quietly and privately, and says teams will go right up to the wire to try to have the strongest squad possible.

As always, the Royals are being linked with plenty of players, but the boss said after the friendly with Bristol City, "There will always be loads of speculation, it will run and run and run.

"We get linked with players all the time, sometimes you wonder where it's come from because some of it's total nonsense. It makes football the beautiful game, people will wonder what may happen, a lot of it is far from the truth. You just get on with it and enjoy it.

"We have a lot of ambition here, but what is done is always done privately and behind the scenes.

"And this year the window goes on until 2nd September, that's when the activity heightens right across the board.

"There will be lots of twists and turns across clubs, we'll try to be as strong as possible. And when the window closes, the loan window pops up so you have that option available as well."

The Royals are back in action this coming Saturday at Madejski Stadium as we take on Swansea - kids tickets from just £1 and adults £10 - phone 0844 249 1871 or go to www.readingfcdirect.co.uk
