McCleary on pre-season improvementsWinger Garath McCleary says he can't wait for the Royals to get back to Madejski Stadium this Saturday, as we take on Swansea City in our final pre-season friendly.
Wednesday night's game at Bristol City allowed players to get more minutes under their belts as the season draws ever closer, and McCleary feels that these fixtures have provided the Royals with a solid platform ahead of the new campaign.
"I think we played well in spells," he told Reading FC Player. "Bristol City passed the ball well, and we've got to take on board that it's good minutes under our belts that we're getting and it's a good foundation to build on for the beginning of the season.
"We had quite a few chances go amiss but hopefully we can put those away when it really matters against Ipswich.
"I'm really looking forward to it (Swansea), playing at home. We haven't done that since Man City, so it'll be really good to play infront of our home fans, in the new home kit as well. I can't wait - Swansea like to pass the ball around like us so I'm sure it'll be a brilliant game."

Overall, Garath is pleased with how our pre-season has gone so far under Nigel Adkins, and believes Reading have strength in depth throughout the side.
"Pre-season has gone really well. The gaffer and his staff have implemented what they want to do. We're taking it on board and so long may that continue," he added.
"We've got strength out wide but we've got strength throughout the whole team. We've just got to concentrate on ourselves and bring our A-game every week. And if you don't, then you know your place is up for grabs.
"I thought I did okay but I know there's a lot that I can improve on - just like the whole team because we're not the finished article yet. As long as we get our heads down and continue to do what we do then hopefully we can."
