Interest in midfielder
Director of Football Nick Hammond has given an update on midfielder Daniel Carrico, who has been the subject of interest from other clubs.
Carrico arrived in January and made three appearances in the Barclays Premier League.
Nick said, “I feel for him, he came in January and following both his contractual situation and an injury he wasn't up to speed at first. But he's been a great professional, he works hard and he's a good player.
“There is some interest but we'll see how it progresses, there are no done deals. It's been tough for him, he's become frustrated with the situation but I want to re-iterate he's a good man, works every day and the level of club interested tells you what a good player he is.
“Is there a done deal? No. Is there likely to be? Possibly.”
In addition, Nick commented on the departure of under 18s striker Uche Ikpeazu, who declined our contract offer in favour of a move to Watford.
Hammond told GetReading, “We were very disappointed. We had three young players in the system progressing very well alongside each other; Jake Cooper and Niall Keown committed to new contracts and we felt Uche would do the same.
“The policy we have in place, we were speaking as the season progressed, but sometimes players are told the grass is greener elsewhere.
“The emphasis now is on Watford to make us an offer that is acceptable, I've spoken to them about that.”
