Academy Manager

Vastly experienced coach who enjoyed a playing career with West Ham United, Birmingham City and Exeter City.

Eamonn spent over ten years with the Grecians in a variety of roles, initially working within the club’s youth set up before taking a post as full time manager at St. James Park in 2003. 

Joined the Royals the following year as Academy manager – and has overseen a glittering period of youth development at Madejski Stadium, with year upon year of youth graduates making an imprint on the first team squad. 

In total 18 graduates have gone on to make appearances for Reading’s first team.  

Stars such as Alex McCarthy, Alex Pearce, Jem Karacan and Hal Robson-Kanu have gone on to make numerous appearances for the club in the Barclays Premier League – whilst even those who fly the nest stay very much on the footballing radar, with Gylfi Sigurdsson making a sizeable impact both in the Bundesliga and with Champions League chasing Tottenham Hotspur.

Temporarily took charge of the first team during the 2012/13 season following the departure of Brian McDermott, as the Royals were narrowly defeated 1-0 by Manchester United at Old Trafford.
