Update on Kebe and Roberts
Manager Nigel Adkins gave an injury update on Jimmy Kebe and Jason Roberts at Hogwood Park.
The pair were both at the Royals training camp in the midlands as the players returned to training
last week, but the boss confirmed that both players are still a way off from making full recoveries.
"They both came to Champneys with us," said Adkins. "Jason is still a long way away from being fit, so he’s not going ready for the start of the season.
"Jimmy’s obviously had that groin injury from the end of last season and through the summer – so we’ve got to make sure we’re mindful that we get that right."
Reflecting on that trip to Leicestershire, the manager said he was delighted with the training sessions and the facilities at Champneys Springs - and says every player is in the right mindset moving forwards.
"It was really pleasing to be back and get the lads in the routine that it’s back to work again. I’ve been to that venue for seven or eight years and it’s worked really well and has got everyone in the right mindset.
"It’s an excellent pitch up there so we had the ball out from day one and had the players run around. There a lot of things we want to do about how we play, so we were getting little messages in straight away."
