NA: Let us entertain you

18 July 2013

Adkins' new season aim

Boss Nigel Adkins wants to play winning football in the Football League, but entertaining the supporters is also high on the agenda.

The boss has a history of a style of play that is both successful and attractive, and he is keen to do the same again come the start of the new season on 3rd August.

He said. "We want to play winning football and we want to play entertaining football for the supporters.

"They pay hard earned cash to travel the length and breadth of the country.

"They want to know that the players are going to give it everything they’ve got, work really hard and endeavour to win games of football.

"The players want to be in the Premier League and they realise how they’ve got to look after themselves and how they can improve, how they can adapt to different formations that teams play against you, so you can be equipped in several different ways to overcome that, control the game of football and win.

"We’ve got to believe [we can get promotion.] For me, I want to be in the Premier League – everyone here wants to be in the Premier League. We sampled it last season. The club won the division the year before last and I've been asked in the press about promotions I’ve had.

"I want to be a winning manager, I want to be successful. We know it’s going to be challenging, we’re not going to hide away from that – but we’re very ambitious.

"We want to go out and win as many games as possible, get a smile on supporters’ faces. There’s going to be games that don’t go our way, and there’s going to be games that go really well for us. It’s going to be an exciting season for everybody."
