Youngsters hold League Two sideOur under-21s held League Two opponents Newport County to an entertaining 3-3 draw at Spytty Park on Tuesday night.
The Royals youngsters have comfortably seen off Basingstoke and Dartford this pre-season and, against a tough side, picked up another excellent result together with a productive work-out in South Wales.
Reading went behind early on but soon equalised. After some good movement, Jake Taylor searched for a man and Gozie Ugwu managed to get on the end of the ball and found the net.
Newport then retook the lead, but the Royals came back once again. Pressing forward, full back Sean Long fizzed in a cross from the right which took a deflection off a County man to make it 2-2.
Reading were in control and earned a penalty during the second half. After some patient build up from the back, Shepherd Murombedzi was felled in the box - and winger Tariqe Fosu-Henry duly stepped up and converted the spot-kick.
Though County struck late to complete the 3-3 thrilling draw, it was a very fruitful night's work for our youngsters - who will look forward to another pre-season clash on Saturday away at Boreham Wood.
