Jordan on pre-seasonWinger Jordan Obita says his confidence was given a boost in his excellent performance against Belenenses on Tuesday night.
Jordan is still only 19, and put in a very good display wide on the left, creating opportunities and coming close to scoring on a couple of occasions during his 60-minute runout.
He said after the game, "The whole team played well, I felt confident in my play and wanted to impress the new manager.
"The opposition just got promoted to the top league so they’re a good team, there was a good atmosphere and both teams did well. You want to play against top teams and it was a great test for us both physically and mentally."
Overall Jordan has been pleased with the progression during our pre-season camp in Portugal, telling BBC Radio Berkshire, "Training has been really good, very hard with double and triple sessions, to get us fit for the season. Myself and the whole team have been good and fitness is top notch."
Danny Williams echoed those sentiments, saying, "We’ve had tough sessions but we are here to enjoy it and bond with each other. With this team it’s not difficult to be a new player. It was nice to score on my debut at the weekend, even though it was a friendly match, it was a good start for me and I hope I can continue with this."
Hal Robson-Kanu added, "It’s been a real hard-working pre-season, a good start and we’re really enjoying it. We had good results, we’ve had intense training out here, we’ve put a lot of work in and that is what we’ll need. It’s about giving us the best grounding possible for the season, to put in the right amount of work and get the best fitness levels possible."
