Showcase night at Madejski Stadium
The Reading FC Community Trust put on a very special open evening at Madejski Stadium recently, as they showcased their great work to a number of key figures from the local area.
A selection of significant guests, including politicians and police chiefs, attended the event in the Princess Suite – and the evening kicked off with a speech by Chairman Sir John Madejski.
“I always say we are the club’s best kept secret,” said Community Trust manager Dave Evans.
“The evening was designed to make the main players in Reading aware of what we do. They got to hear first-hand from our staff, partners and those who we have strived to help – and the feedback we got was fantastic.”
A specially produced DVD took attendees through the key pillars of the trust, including Social Inclusion, Education and Sports Participation.
Pride of Reading award winner Leah Beale also spoke to the crowd about how the Trust helped to turn her life around, whilst there was a street dance performance from West Reading Kickz Group.
Special presentations were also made to Social Inclusion Officer Gary Webb, who is leaving the Royals after eight years of fantastic service, and striker Noel Hunt – who was a terrific supporter of the Community Trust throughout his time at the club.
