Danny: 'Excited to be here'

26 June 2013

Williams thrilled to be part of it

Danny Williams couldn't hide his excitement as he became the next addition to the Royals ahead of the 2013/14 season.

Williams will become the third new recruit during this summer of rebuilding, and says that he can't wait to help the Royals in their promotion campaign.

"I'm excited because I see this as the next step in my career. I am really looking forward to the season and to try to get the club back to the Premier League."

"I heard of the interest when my agent called me, and I was excited because I heard a lot of good things about the club - especially from Gylfi because he is a good friend from Hoffenheim and a hero here!

"I spoke to the manager yesterday when I did my medicine check and he is a really great, nice guy. I'm looking forward to working with him, everything is perfect here."

The 24-year-old is an extremely versatile player, and he gave a brief message to Reading supporters about what they can expect from him.

"I would say I am versatile but I feel most comfortable in centre midfield as a defensive midfielder. During my time at Freiburg, I learned how to play in different roles on the pitch but I feel most comfortable at defensive midfield.

"I would like to say to the Reading fans that I will give 100% in every game, I want to show them that I am part of this club and that I'm proud to wear this jersey. I will do everything I can to help this team go back to the Premier League."
