"Ready for any fixture"

18 June 2013

Blackman previews 2013/14 fixture release

Whichever side the fixture computer pairs Reading with for the opening day of the 2013/14 Championship campaign, Nick Blackman is confident of a Royals victory.

The striker is already looking forward to next season, and says it would be nice for the Royals to come up against one of his former sides in the first weekend in August.

"Having been on loan at Blackpool, it would be good to play against them or any of the clubs from the North West," he told readingfc.co.uk on the eve of the 2013/14 fixture release.

"But as players we don't read into fixture lists too much, we'll just be ready for any fixture. We focus on one game when it comes around, and then prepare for the next one afterwards.

Nick featured in the final five games of the season under Nigel Adkins, and is determined to pick up from where he left off.

"It was great to be involved towards the end of the season. I want to carry of from where I was and continue improving here at Reading," he added.

"Pre-season will be good I'm sure. The way the gaffer wants us to play, I'm sure we'll be getting ourselves extra fit and raring to go for the new season.

"After the last season, it's good to have a quick turnaround. I'm already looking forward to the new season in the Championship, and I'm sure all the lads are."
