Squad prepare for new campaign

Nigel Adkins' Royals have their first official day of pre-season training today.

First team players and staff met at Hogwood Park this morning before travelling to the Midlands for a team training camp that lasts until Monday. The official website will of course have photographs and video footage online tomorrow.

Our under 21 group trains at Hogwood for the first time today, while a group of goalkeepers were in on Tuesday morning for their first session with Sal Bibbo at Hogwood.

Boss Adkins said, "It’s a first pre-season under myself and Andy so we’d like to think the players will enjoy it. There’ll be lots of football done, although we don’t need to play loads of games.

"We’ll make sure we arrive at the first game of the season where we want to be physically, technically, tactically and mentally in preparation for a long campaign."

Meanwhile, the club have today confirmed our second pre-season friendly in Portugal, and we will take on FC Olhanense on Friday 19th July at 8pm local time, at Estadio Municipal de Leiria.

Pre-season fixtures:
Sat 13th July, Wycombe A, 3pm
Tue 16th July, Belenenses A, 8pm
Fri 19th July,  FC Olhanense A, 8pm
Wed 24th July, Bristol City A, 7:45pm
Sat 27th July, Swansea H, 3pm
