International round-upGarath McCleary was inches away from earning Jamaica a vital victory on Friday night, seeing an injury time effort fly just past the post in a 1-1 home draw with Panama.
McCleary was impressive on the right wing and his display was almost converted into a 92nd minute goal as his left foot drive beat the keeper but went just wide.
Adrian Mariappa was comfortable at centre back and Jobi McAnuff influential in the centre of midfield, but Panama scored a second half equaliser with a rare shot and held on in a game punctuated by free kicks at almost every turn.
The result is a disappointment after a superb draw away to Mexico in their first match, but with eight more games to go there is plenty to play for.
Ex-Royal Omar Daley also came on in this game, and his country now face Costa Rica in the early hours of Wednesday morning UK time.
Elsewhere, Hal Robson-Kanu got his first international goal as Wales beat Scotland - full story here.
Kaspars Gorkss captained Latvia as they drew 0-0 in Liecthenstein. Stephen Kelly was an unused sub as Ireland drew 0-0 in Sweden, while our young duo of Pierce Sweeney and Sean Long started for the Irish u19s in a win over Gilbraltar; Shane Griffin coming off the bench.
On Thursday, Jonathan Henly played the full 90 in goal for Scotland u19s as they beat Sweden 2-0.
Dominic Samuel missed out on England u19s duty because of injury, and the same applied to Conor Shaughnessy with Ireland u19s. Alex Pearce is on standby for the full Emerald Isle squad.
