Latest on five RoyalsHead of Sports Medicine Luke Anthony has given the official website the latest injury news from the first team squad.
He had surgery on his hip joint problem on Saturday and it went fine, absolutely as expected. He won't be back again this season but is on target to make a good recovery.
He picked up the injury at Southampton in December and we hoped we would be able to get him back by managing the injury with a combination of rehab and injection therapy. Surgery was a possibility early on, but we knew by doing it at that stage it would put him out for the rest of the season. We wanted to avoid surgery if at all possible but it became unavoidable, two specialist opinions reinforced that it was now the best course of action.
He's making good progress following an adductor muscle strain picked up in the Everton game and we're looking to step up his rehabilitation over the next week.
He is also making good progress after spraining ankle ligaments the day before the Everton match. He's two and a half weeks into his recovery and ahead of schedule.
He is recovering from a knee injury picked up in training on Friday and should be back in training later this week.
He's back in the mix with the first team group now, he was on the bench on Saturday and played his first game back for the under 21s on Monday which is another good step forward for him.
