Q&A with Ledge

Mikele speaks after Everton

Midfielder Mikele Leigertwood spoke to BBC Berkshire following the Royals' 3-1 defeat at Goodison Park on Saturday - here's what was said:

From your vantage point, how do you assess the defeat at Everton?

We were pretty much in the game up until they scored - obviously we wanted to come out in the second half and try and get a goal. We were much in the game and we were unfortunate not to score early on.

It's a tough place to come - they're a good side and we gave as good as we got for a fair amount of time. We were unlucky that Pienaar's strike went in and Fellaini's a world class player - he gets the first goal and it's difficult after that. We just need to look forward to next week now.

How much time do you spend looking at the table at this time of the season?

Like last year, we didn't really look at the table - we just wanted to focus on the next game. When you're on a bad run of results you've just got to get our there and put it right straight away. The Villa game can't come soon enough - we'll iron out a few things and do what we can.

I'm sure you have great faith in the likes of Hal Robson-Kanu and Garath McCleary, but I suppose you'd love to see Jimmy Kebe shake off his injury.

It's unfortunate for Jimmy to pick up the injury - he was doing well up until that point. If he's not going to be fit then we've got capable replacements - Hal came on and scored.

Results aside, are you still enjoying life in the Barclays Premier League?

Of course, we all want to play the top level. Losing is difficult to take but the fact that we've got the opportunity to go out there and play every week is obviously very good. I'm enjoying it and we'll all have to stick together from now until the end of the season.

Ahead of the Aston Villa game on Saturday what will the focus be like? Do you see it as a six-pointer?

We'll see - it's going to be a tough game, like every game between now until the end of the season. We've just got to focus on one game at a time - we can't do anything more than that. We'll be pushing hard to get the desired result.
