Why Nigel kept quiet

28 March 2013

Adkins' injury approach

New boss Nigel Adkins declined the opportunity to reveal detailed team news in his press conference ahead of the Arsenal game - saying he would much prefer to retain an advantage and keep the Gunners guessing.

Nigel said. "Maybe we just keep Arsenal guessing for this one game. Because you never know, that one little thing might just give us that little edge and that little opportunity to win the game. So I’d rather not say who’s going to be fit, who’s not going to be fit.

"I’d rather not say what formation we’re going to play -  am I a this formation man or that formation man.

"We’re in the scrap, we want to stay up, so we use any little thing to give us that opportunity. There’s a change in management, there’ll be a change in one or two things."

Arsenal are without Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott, as well as Abou Diaby. Lukas Podolski and Bacary Sagna are back while Kieran Gibbs is unwell.

The game is sold out but is live on Reading FC Player.
