Jem hails first top flight strike
Jem Karacan has told Reading FC Player that he fulfilled a childhood dream by notching his first Premier League goal on Saturday afternoon.
The Turkish midfielder's clinical strike sealed a 4-2 win at Craven Cottage - and sparked wild celebrations from the much loved Academy product!
"I went a bit mental," Reading's number four told our online TV station.
"But it means so much to me to get a goal in the Premier League! Growing up as a kid a goal in the Prem was a dream come true, so it's nice that my family were here. Sadly not my Dad who has gone back to Turkey, but I'll give him a call and tell him that I scored for him."
Karacan also finished the game proudly sporting the captain's armband - an honour he admitted that wasn't taken lightly.
"As soon as I saw Jobi come off I looked around and thought 'I've been here as long as anyone! - it's my armband!'. So it was nice to get it on and even nicer to score a goal in it, so I'll be keeping that.
"As a team we're delighted, confidence wise we've proved there that we can compete with teams in the Premier League, we've done it today and it's a great win. The gaffer has come in and he's given us a bit of a license to go and play our stuff. For the last three games we've shown that and hte boys are really enjoying it."
