Royals boss looks ahead
Nigel Adkins has insisted that there’s a fantastic atmosphere at Hogwood Park, as he continues to build his vision for the future of the club.
Despite relegation from the Barclays Premier League, the Royals go into their last game of the season with West Ham United this Sunday on the back of a string of improved performances.
“I think we already have finished on a high note,” the manager told his pre-match press conference.
“Over the last seven or eight weeks there’s been a good progression from what we’ve wanted to do. The players are in a good state of mind, looking forward there’s a lot of belief about what we’re doing for the future. We’ve got a driving ambition, we want to be back in the Barclays Premier League. The players are well aware of what’s going to be required of them next season and there’s a feel good factor about the place.”
The manager also took time out to praise his opposite number for the weekend’s clash, with Sam Allardyce’s side securing their place in the top flight after gaining promotion from the Championship last season.
“West Ham have gone up with a good experienced manager in Sam Allardyce. I’ve got a lot of respect for him. At the end of the day, they’ve played winning football. They’ve done very well because they’ll be in the Premier League next season and that’s important for everybody.”
