Adkins reviews targets

Manager to take full advantage of a free weekend

There will be no rest for Nigel Adkins and his staff this weekend, as the Royals boss revealed he will take full advantage of a break in the fixture schedule.

With Manchester City visiting Madejski Stadium on Tuesday evening, the manager told his pre-match press conference that he will be casting an eye over some summer transfer targets.

“It’s not a clear weekend at all,” said Adkins

“It’s a great opportunity for us to review one or two targets for the summer. At this stage of the season the recruitment side of things kicks in at all football clubs and that’ll be no different with ourselves. There are plenty of games throughout Europe for us to go and watch, with the targets that we’ve got.

“Of course whatever we do, we do privately. There’ll be lots of speculation about players coming in, players going out – but we’ll do our business as privately as we cannot getting involved in speculation. Our objective is to get a squad of players next season that will be hungry and harbour a desire to cope with the demands and challenges of the Championship, so that Reading Football Club can ultimately get back in the Premier League.”
