Gunter: We play to win

2 May 2013

"For ourselves and the fans"

The Royals will still be going out to win all three of their remaining Barclays Premier League games despite facing imminent relegation, according to full back Chris Gunter.

Nigel Adkins' men have kept two clean sheets from their last three games, and Chris feels that the last few weeks has seen a vast improvement in the team.

"It has been difficult for us all season really," Gunter admitted. "But the last few weeks have been better than the last few months. We need to give ourselves the best chance to win games and in the last few weeks, we have been doing that. We haven't been able to get the results but it has felt a lot better.

"I think everyone can she what has changed on the pitch. It looks a lot better and feels a lot better."

And with three games to go, two of those trips to London to face Fulham and West Ham - sandwiched between a home clash with Manchester City, Gunter says that Reading will be aiming to win each one - for themselves, and the fans.

"We want to get three wins - that's all we can do. It doesn't matter if you're playing to win a league - once you're on the pitch as a footballer you just want to win the game. We're never going to have a player on the pitch who isn't trying.

"We've got three games left with our fans coming to watch us play so we need to try and win those for ourselves and for the fans."
