Report from charity gameMany thousands of pounds were raised for the Royal British Legion and Team Army Sports Foundation with an FA legends charity game at Madejski Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Legends ran out 4-2 winners on an enjoyable afternoon, with the likes of Graeme Murty, Gary Neville, Matt Le Tissier and many more wowing an enthusiastic crowd.
Roy Hodgson and Stuart Pearce managed the two sides, the charities involved would like to thank everybody who gave up their time, and all of the supporters who came out for great causes.
It was the Army FA side who took the lead early on with a neat finish from number 10 Jay Bates, but a deflected Tore Andre Flo effort soon put Roy Hodgson's side level.
Keith Emmerson put the Army 2-1 up, but again the legends fought back when Kevin Kilbane - who was still playing for Huddersfield this season - rounded the keeper for 2-2.
Graeme Murty came on to an excellent ovation midway through the first half, and helped maintain the excellent mood and spirit in which the game was being played.
Soon after the restart TV presenter Ben Shephard scored a nice third in off the post, and no doubt it will be shown many times on Goals On Sunday this weekend!
Ex-Swindon man Jan Aage Fjortoft then neatly scored at the near post for 4-2 with 12 minutes to go, ending the Army side's admirable resistance.
