Celebrating an astonishing season....
Here at the official website we have designated this week as Academy Week, in recognition of arguably the best season in the history of our Academy.
Under Eamonn Dolan's tutelage the Academy has seen success on a number of levels this season, from the international stage to our under 18s team.
With Alex McCarthy being in the England squad, the Academy's profile has rightly been raised to another level.
There are a number of other international players from our ranks; Hal Robson-Kanu, Alex Pearce, Simon Church, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Simon Cox - the list goes on. And of course Hal notched his first international goal this season as well.
In the Premier League we have had 78 appearances from our Academy ranks and eight goals - seven from Robson-Kanu and one from Karacan.
Dominic Samuel made his Premier League debut at the age of just 18, and he was the 13th youngest player in top flight.
And at under 18s level we went all the way to the final of the Barclays under 18 Premier League, having won 11 games in a row and winning our League in the first half of the season. We defeated Manchester United, Chelsea, Everton and many more top sides in a great year for Eamonn's side.
And indeed, Dolan stepped in with great aplomb to manage the first team away at Manchester United, assisted by David Dodds and Martin Kuhl.
Owner Anton Zingarevich places great emphasis on the Academy, and it has been a wonderful year for our youth setup.
We will be celebrating our Academy all week - stay tuned to the official website and use the hashtag #AcademyWeek on Twitter.
