Coach previews tonight's game
Under-21s coach Martin Kuhl says that the side are aiming for cup progression with a good performance tonight, in front of Royals supporters at Madejski Stadium.
The inaugural Premier League competition has drawn Reading against Queens Park Rangers in the round of 32, which kicks off tonight (Tuesday) at 7pm. Admission and parking is completely free of charge, click here for more.
"It's the first time in this competition, and the cups are what it's all about. We're looking to get further in it, and go as far as we can," said Kuhl.
"We watched QPR the other day - they're a decent footballing team but we're expecting players to lift their game. It'll be in a nice pitch in a great stadium - we want them to get used to this kind of environment.
Kuhl also stressed the importance of developing players and learning from defeats and set-backs, as well as - of course - winning games of football.
"The side have had a little blip but this is a new, exciting tournament. Our youngsters are slowly adjusting to the under-21s level, as we want to get them up to mens football standard," he added.
"It's all about development but also winning. The winning comes hand in hand with it - it's a good habit to have. The players are confident, sometimes you win but sometimes you lose - and it's about learning from these set backs to make them great players."
