Midfielder on comebackMikele Leigertwood was delighted to return to action for the under-21s in midweek, a positive step forward after missing a large part of 2013 with an ankle injury.
The Royals midfielder put in an assured performance on Tuesday afternoon in a friendly against Bournemouth, getting an important 45 minutes under his belt.
"It was a good milestone to get to, having been out for so long," Leigertwood told readingfc.co.uk after the under-21s game.
"The fact that I've had this opportunity to get involved with the under-21s is great - Kuhly (Martin Kuhl), the under-21s manager has been very good about me coming in and having a game and get me back to where I need to be.
"It felt good - I've tried to keep myself in the best possible shape as I can. Nothing can prepare you for that match intensity but I felt OK during the game. It was a tough test really with the conditions, but I felt fine and hopefully I can push on now."
Ledge added that playing with the Reading youngsters is of course beneficial to their youth development, and is happy to lend a hand where possible.
"I've seen them in training and see them play games but it was good to actually get out on the pitch with them. If my experience can help them in any way, even if it's something small, then I'm happy to do so."
